Fairywood Thicket

The Elderberry Fairy

The Thicket

Our name is derived from the Elderberries that we have growing wild on our property and all the wonderful opportunities the discovery of this amazing berry have brought us. It is said that when the Fairies come thru on Mid-Summer Night they ride the Elder branches like horses, causing then to tip over and ripen, giving way to the name Fairy Wood, and since they grow in thickets, hence our name.

In the Summer of 2003, a friend and his wife came for Dinner, during dinner we discussed bush hogging our pasture to get rid of the nuisance bushes. It was at that very moment in time our lives changed. Beth explained to us exactly what we had, and how much of a gift the “Elderberries” were and what they could be used for. So we listened and asked a million questions…

Beginning with “What is an Elderberry?”

and Fairy Wood Thicket was born…………..

Elder trees and bushes are said to protect fairies, especially at night, from negative energy and from people and entities who

would do them harm.

"Lady Ellhorn, give me of thy wood, And I will give thee of mine, when I become a tree."
